PROJECT	Damage rehabilitation in Kea Island Port

A breakwater had been constructed in the past at the SW end of Agios Nikolaos (Kea Island) port, west of Korissia village. The breakwater had suffered significant damage from wave action, while its far NE end had been completely destroyed. The following were foreseen for its rehabilitation and enhancement:

Removal of the existing concrete blocks.
Excavation of the existing embankment down to elevation -10.00 m.
Laying of a20 m thick layer of properly graded stones.
Placement of concrete blocks on either side of the breakwater, bearing at elevation -8.80 m.
Construction of superstructure with a final traffic level at +2.00 m and a protection wall extending up to elevation +4.50 m.
Placement of rip-rap and acropodes for wave protection.
Enhancement of the breakwater embankment.

Performance of 1 on-shore and 2 off-shore exploratory boreholes of 86 m total depth (measured from sea bottom), in water depths of up to 30 m, with the corresponding laboratory tests, preparation of a factual and interpretive report. Preparation of a geotechnical design for the enhancement and rehabilitation of the breakwater embankment.
