The project is located in Chatziantoniou and Dimitriou Ralli in Marousi, Attiki. The area presents a slight inclination to the southwest with a maximum altitude difference in the order of 1.00 – 1.50.

At the site of total area of 1.820 m2, a super market and residential reinforced concrete building with three basements was constructed. The excavation for the construction of the three basements reached a depth of 11.00 – 12.50m.

The performed tasks included:

• Geotechnical investigation consisting of 3 rotary drilling and sampling boreholes, each reaching a depth equal to 20 – 25 m and total depth equal to 65 m, accompanied by on site and lab tests, evaluation of the results and suggestions on the suitable options regarding the foundation and the retaining of the deep excavation.
• Retaining study of the slopes with a system of vertical piles, anchored with height with inclined restressed anchors and shotcrete (Berlinoise method).
• Control of the underground water table through the construction of two deep external pumping wells and inside draining system underneath the foundation level.
• Close supervision of the retaining works and instrumented monitoring of the displacements of the retaining system, as well as the adjacent structures with inclinometers and 3D targets.
