The project is located on the west part of Atherinolakkos bay on the SE coast of Crete. The project consists of 4 units (I-II-III-IV).

The infrastructure works included: Marine works: 1) Excavation of harbor basin, 2) main breakwater for the berthing of tankers, 3) coastline quay ramp for F/B mooring and 4) fishing boats shelter consisting of a main breakwater and coast line quay. Site formation works: 1) Excavation of the area of the plant in two levels, 2) construction of an embankment along the south coast for the protection of the facilities from wave action and the water spray from the breaking waves and 3) construction of a warm water disposal channel from the area of the facilities through the embankment. Site access works: Construction of an access road to the station and construction of a bridge at the location of the rerouted creek. Flood protection works: Rerouting of the creek with the excavation of a channel.

Drilling of 12 off-shore and 26 on-shore exploratory boreholes, with the corresponding laboratory tests and preparation of a factual and interpretive report. Performance of 276 wagon drill soundings for the location of underground karstic voids and performance of 5 field trial groutings. Also sample retrieval and photographing of sea bed, surface sampling of rocks and geological reconnaissance. Performance of general stability analyses off-shore works (main breakwater, coastal protection embankments).
